The Underground Railroad KS1-One Week Lesson Plan
A safe place to stop. A kind person to help. Another step towards freedom.
The Underground Railroad was not a railway with trains. It was a network of secret routes and safe houses that helped enslaved people reach freedom in the 19th century. Its story is one of courage, hope and people helping one another.
This one-week pack introduces children aged 5–7 to that history through a gentle, age-appropriate story. The focus is on bravery, kindness and working together, offering a hopeful way to begin conversations about freedom and fairness.
