Pardna and Susu: Rotating Credit and Savings Associations KS2-One Week Lesson Plan
What happens when a community becomes its own savings circle?
In Pardna and Susu, members put money into a shared pot and take turns receiving the full amount. Built on trust, these savings systems have helped Caribbean families work towards homes, businesses and education for generations, and continue in Britain today.
This one-week pack introduces children aged 7–11 to community saving and financial cooperation. Through discussion, research and creative writing, pupils explore how people support one another, why communities build their own financial systems and what these traditions reveal about resilience and solidarity.
